Lebowski Fest Austin - May 19th-20th,
2006
Special Guests in Austin 2006
"Big" Lew Abernathy (one of the inspirations for
Walter!)
The character of Walter Sobchak played by John Goodman was inspired
by three individuals: John
Milius, Peter Exline
and "Big"
Lew Abernathy. Big Lew is a retired Los Angeles Private Detective.
Back in the early nineties, about the time of our conflict with Saddam
and the Iraqis, Peter Exline and Big Lew could be found at Cafe 50's
loudly arguing over political philosophy, unchecked aggression, and
whether Peter's rug really did tie the room together - inevitably
drawing parallels to the Viet Nam conflict. Some of their more outrageous
(but true) exploits are depicted in the film, including the the trip
to the impound yard and their visit to Little Larry Sellers house.
Big Lew is a writer/director/actor whose credits
include Deep Star Six, House IV and James Cameron's
Titanic. Like Walter, Lew believes in playing by the rules,
freedom of speech, and that his buddies did not die face down in the
muck for nothing. He dislikes unchecked aggression, rug pee-ers and
Nihilists.
The Yuppie Pricks!
Meet the new corporate raiders of rock - The
Yuppie Pricks. Handsome,
talented and rich beyond your wildest dreams, they don't need you
- you
need them. Just hope they don't back over you with their BMW's after
stealing your girlfriend. Stock tips, grooming advice, fashion schooling
and some straight ahead punk tunes with refreshing capitalist lyrics.
Autobahn
These nihilists will cut off your johnson before you can say "nice
marmot". Autobahn
has been taking the globe by storm with their earthy techno-pop.
The Recliners

The Recliners
bring you all of your favorite tunes - lounge-style. Quiet Riot and
AC/DC never sounded so swanky. Voted Best Lounge/Swing band by The
Austin Chronicle.
